Stimulus Plan - Provides Flood of Aid to EDUCATION
Stimulus Plan Would Provide Flood of Aid to Education
Schools, universities and child care centers would receive $150 billion in new spending in the stimulus package scheduled for a vote in Congress.
How else are the educational institutions to provide for the needs of our children if we don’t provide funds to do so! We need to stop playing politics with our children’s futures.

We've built schools in Iraq after blowing them up. Now it's time to build our own. This is good. This generation can learn two very valuable lessons; First, that money doesn't grow on trees ( as evidenced by our current recession). Second, that we value education in this country, not just missiles and tanks.
Education is the best way to spend stimulus money. We need to raise a new generation that can compete internationally. That will naturally stop outsourcing of high-paying jobs. Our education system is ok until about the 8th grade. Afterward, our students fall behind their corresponding age group in most developing / developed countries. We cannot be the number 1 nation with number 30th education system. The 9th-12th grade and undergraduate education must be improved. This is no easy task but it is a must do. I commend Barack Hussein O. administration for this initiative
If stimulus money is an investment in our future, there is no better use of it then to increase Federal aid to the states for education. Washington now contributes a paltry 8% of a states total education budget. That comes with restrictions and absurd plans like the No Child Left Behind Act which contain costly unfunded mandates. These lower the actual percentage of contribution significantly.
It is absolutely right and honorable that American families, struggling to keep up while their pockets are being picked clean by the immorality of banking and industry, are helped with the infusion of real money into their lives, not a $500 check that can't even pay for a family outing to the ball park anymore. This spring when school districts across our nation are planning their budgets they shouldn't have to be going to their residents to ask for tax increases to offset what has essentially been stolen. Even more importanly, our children and their education should be viewed as the best investment we can ever make, better then any stock or bond. It is in their eyes and hearts that the future of this nation will be forged. Give real financial aid to the people now. There is no better way to do it then by finally spending stimulus money on the families of our nation and their children.
It's great to see us investing in seed corn once again. The future payoff will be unimaginable.
I just wish that any and all tax cuts would do things like encourage corporations to send their people back to school, or open up research labs, or give generously to educational institutions. Anything that eases the burden on companies who want to do the right thing would be terrific.
Giving to schools isn't enough, of course. We also need to lift some of the darkness that we have felt for the last several years.
There should be money for children to go on exciting field trips. I don't know if it changed my life, but I certainly was moved as a child when I got to visit the Air Traffic Control tower at LGA. Right now with bush's terror rules still in effect, kids aren't even allowed near such places. It's a shame. At least that's something that can be fixed without spending a fortune
