The General Strike in Paris...
Projected (by the unions) as the biggest strike in Paris since 1995... what started as hundreds of people chanting, singing and marching ended up as a sequestered protest against a line of shielded police. There were small fires, throwing of bottles, sticks, water jugs, and other miscellaneous objects flavored with bottle rockets and fire crackers. The police reacted with teargas and limited force. The evening ended around nine o'clock pm.
The crowd appeared to be mostly students, older onlookers and what seemed to be a few communists in full dress.
Cafés in the area were open to people wanting to get out of the scene and the atmosphere was similar to the aftermath of a college sports team winning/losing a major game.
