This iReport is part of an assignment:
Is public breastfeeding OK? |
Breast is Best, No Matter Where
Before my first child was born, I decided to nurse her. I nursed her until my second trimester of pregnancy with my second child. She weaned herself. Whenever we were out in public and she got hungry, I would take her in the bathroom with me and sit on the toilet to nurse her.
Then, when my second child was born, it dawned on me- no one else eats their meals in the bathroom. That's disgusting. Quite frankly, I was disgusted with myself that I would be so nervous about other people seeing me nursing my infant that I would hide in a bathroom stall to feed her.
When my second child was born, I decided to let her eat whenever and wherever the rest of us were eating. I've nursed her just about every place you can think of- except a public toilet stall.
I'm not an in-your-face kind of woman, whether I'm nursing my baby or not. I try to be as discreet as possible, but I won't hide.
