This iReport is part of an assignment:
Day do-over |
Tuesday, November 7, 2006
On this day, I cast my vote for now former Democratic Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. I have voted for both Dem and GOP candidates in the past, so party affiliation was not a particularly important issue. Blago was finishing his first term as governor, and corruption allegations had already begun to surface. I certainly should have known better. His GOP opponent, Judy Baar Topinka, was qualified for the job and likely honest. However, she had absolutely no personal charisma and frankly came off mean-spriited and nasty whenever she opened her mouth. Given Blago's re-election, I assume I was not the only Illinois voter turned off by her personality. When all is said and done, though, Illinois would clearly have been better served by an honest pitbull than a corrupt smooth-talking sleazebag like Blago. If I could do this day over, I would.
