This iReport is part of an assignment:
Working seven days a week |
7 days a week (Teacher/ Coach/ Student...)
On the go... 7 DAYS A WEEK!
I am 26 years old and I have two to four jobs... Depending on how you look at my situation! (Teaching, Coaching, Graduate School, and Theatre Projectionist / Clerk)... I am a high school teacher in Marfa, Texas and I also coach girls' volleyball, basketball, and softball. Every morning I commute from Alpine (approximately 30 minutes away) to Marfa High and begin my day. Classes begin at 8:20 a.m. and finish up around 3:50 p.m. After school we begin practice, which usually runs from around 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. and then I am back on the road to Alpine soon after. On game days (mainly away games), my day can run from 7:00 a.m. to 1 a.m. Once I get home, I usually eat, shower, and get some sleep and get ready for it to start all over again the next day. On weekends, I work at the Rangra Movie Theatre in Alpine from 5:30 p.m. until about 11:30 p.m. I am also enrolled in graduate classes at Sul Ross State University (class meeting are 1 weekend out of every month, Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
Not taking a day off is something that really hasn't crossed my mind too often. I do get tired and even fall a little sick sometimes and I think that it may have to do with lack of rest. Being on the go all the time is something that has been surprisingly easy for me to adapt to. Every day I wake up with an agenda and I try to stick to it. On the weekends, when I do not have graduate classes, I try to sleep until at least 10 a.m. and then start cleaning my apartment, buying groceries, and pretty much catching up on anything I missed during the week. The reason I decided to go back to my old college job at the movie theatre was to make extra gas money for my daily commutes to work and also to help my family out with bills back at home. With the economy being like it is these days, my father, a carpenter (sheetrock and dry-waller), has found work harder to come by. So I try to help my parents out with whatever extra money I can make (the least I could do after they helped me pay for college!
Until then- I will try not to take on another job!!!!
