I DON'T UNDERSTAND...OR DO I?
I know I don't know everything especially when it comes to politics, but I can't figure out what seems so much like commonsense for me why it seems like rocket science to Capitol Hill? At the end of last year, President Bush went on TV and pleaded/threatened (whichever word you prefer) to the American people that our Nation was going under and we MUST bail out Wall Street and the banking system. I myself from the very beginning thought I had to be missing something or just plain inexperienced on knowing these things. Because it seems like commonsense to know this was not the right thing to do. Just like bailing out the Big Three...I didn't think this was the right solution. I know it would have never happened and in know way would I look for a hand out, but the thought of dispersing the bailout money to the tax payers (after all isn't it ours) would have been a better solution.
Now here we at the end of January 2009 and what has happened to all that money? AIG went on a pretty nice company vacation spending spree....I've heard nothing about the Auto Companies (the way I did in December) and Wall Street gave themselves almost 20 Billion dollars in bonuses. Again commonsense...wouldn't it have stimulated the economy to divide the money up between the tax payers then giving it to the systems that had already failed? I have to be missing something. So if there is anyone out there that could educate me a little more and tell me what I'm missing. please because I really feel like an idiot and want to know if rightfully I should.
