Ice Damaged Trees leading up to our farm
I am writing this because the only continuous coverage of the ice storm seems to be concentrated in Louisville. One of the hardest hit areas you may not have heard yet - Muhlenberg County, McLean County, Ohio County, and Hopkins County have had far greater damage than anyone in the state. Power is not to be restored for at least 3 - 4 weeks. Many areas are inaccessible. Shelters are few and many people are scared to go to shelters for fear their homes will be ramsacked. The National Guardsmen are knocking on doors, but many homes are remote, without power, land and cell phones, and may not have been visited. I live in Owensboro, which has also been hard hit, but we do have some services. I visited Muhlenberg County today and weaved my way through trees, debris, and power lines. Hopefully, CNN will move from their comfort zone in Louisville and travel to the western part of the state which has had far greater damage. Many are anxious to know news of their families.
