Old houses @ Vigan Philippines (5/15)
Old houses @ Vigan Philippines (5/15)
One of the highlights of Vigan is the houses that stood the test of time. Materials used to make these houses were mostly bricks and wood. The wood used here were made from the quality trees available back then so most probably the wood here would be around 300 years old more or less. The architecture inside are made in such a way that there are a lot of space for people to walk around and big windows to let the wind in. Ceilings are well decorated and old appliances are still around the house. Relics are kept in glass cabinets that properly seal the relics to keep them at mint condition. Collections of the forefathers are taken care of by their living ancestors. What is intriguing and exciting is to identify what the items are because they are completely different and odd-looking. The usual house set-up would be a parking space for carriages and cars, and storage area in the ground floor. In the second floor, are rooms and a big living room where guests are hosted. Usually, living rooms are big enough to do traditional dances and other forms of merry-making. Hosting an event would also denote social class. More gatherings equates to higher standard of living.
