Dennys Restaurant offers millions a FREE breakfast

Thursday, February 3, 2009 10:00:37 EST (USA) Miami, FL (SOBE) - In an article published on CNN.com titled Tough choices for “America's hungry” published February 2, 2009 it is stated that millions of Americans are skipping meals due to the ongoing problems with unemployment rates among other things. Just one day after having released that report, in a bold move, Dennys Restaurant released a commercial airing across the United States that anyone can come to the restaurant from the early morning until 2:00 PM and enjoy a free Grand Slam breakfast. When I heard the commercial my first reaction was, hummm perhaps I too can go there and enjoy a free breakfast before I start my day. As I made my way to a nearby Dennys Restaurant, I found myself with I like to call shock and awe. The line outside the restaurant wrapped itself around the establishment. Affirming the fact that millions of Americans across the U.S. will opt to take the free meal from Dennys. Now, the real question now becomes, “are these people in need of a free meal, or simply folks that enjoy a freebie every now and then?” Regardless of the reason for the long lines, the message is clear. Dennys was very successful at getting people to come to the restaurant. It is important to underscore that Dennys is doing this at a time where most businesses are cutting costs due to poor sales and a poor economy. I did not have the opportunity to interview anyone at Dennys for comment; however, I hope to see follow-up stories in the days to come.
