Thin Mints and office politics |
Cookies out the Wazoo!
Honestly, you'd like to say you won't peddle the cookies like under the counter crack at your workplace, but reality is that when you have only so many hours in the day, and many activities to do, it simply isn't practical to go door-to-door, especially in rural areas like we live in.
So...yes, I load up a small supply and take to the office. But...I send one email out to everyone (that my daughter has helped write at home) to let them know the cookies have arrived and are ready for new homes - the email goes to co-workers, friends & family. Luckily, we have many supportive contacts, so it goes smoothly and when possible, my daughter comes along with me to deliver the goods. One of the co. presidents actually told a couple of us cookie moms that we were teaching our daughters to be lazy - I guess it can be viewed that way, but as long as they have some skin in the game, and they are growing from their GS experiences, then I don't think this is the worst thing I'll do as a parent.
When the transaction takes place at work, we keep our list handy and record the customers. At the end of February, when the last box is sold (thank goodness!! The best part is that when we do work a booth together, we all laugh and have fun and challenge each other to be nice to grumpy people, sweet talk & upsell - it's a pretty sweet gig! :)
