I opened a boutique to help Indie Artisans
Hi, my name is Janie. I am the owner of Posh and Prim Boutique which is an online Indie boutique based in Dallas, TX.
I started my boutique on Black Friday of 2008. Since my husband is a web designer and he has his own server to host web sites, I thought I could provide an opportunity for Indie designer's to sell their crafts and art work.
The boutique only sells handmade items. The designer sends me their items that they would like sold on the website. Once the items sell, I then pay them. It's like consignement. The price the designer quotes is marked up 25% to 50% on the site to help cover the costs of advertisement and packaging materials.
So far the boutique has been listed in "Shut Up" magazine and "Venus" Magazine .
I created this site as an inexpensive way for designers to sell their items without having to pay listing fees for other online venues such as ebay. Now with the downfall of the economy and ebay's constant rise in fees, some designers simpy cannot afford to list items on there anymore. I also do trunk shows as well for these designer's.
You can view the boutique's website at: www.poshandprim.com
Thank you,
Janie Monares
