This iReport is part of an assignment:
Issue #1: Questions on the economy |
60 Billion Stimulus
Why haven't any of the congressmen/women discussed helping the 6 million who lost their jobs in 2008? It seems to me to that a very simple way to help all 6 million is to write them a check to help them through these economic hardships. If each person who lost their job in 2008 received a check for $10,000 and are obligated to pay it back within 10 years with no interest, wouldn't that help people out more than rebuilding a bridge or replacing the federal fleet with fuel efficient cars?
Extend this idea to those who need a government loan to help pay their mortgage for the next two years and you add about $200 billion to the $60 billion.
This two part stimulus would do more for the economy directly and only cost $260 billion. While it is only a short term solution, that's exactly what we need to regain consumer confidence. Most of this money will go right back into the economy.
If you wanted to extend this idea to every taxpayer, and say give $5,000 to each taxpayer, you'd add about $690 billion.
The three part stimulus would cost 950 billion and do more for ALL Americans NOW than the infrastructure improvements package would.
Sounds like a stimulus to me, except one problem, the size of government wouldn't grow and thus would never pass through this democratic congress.
I call my proposal the GIVEBACK TO AMERICANS AFTER EIGHT YEARS OF TYRANNY BILL.
