Stimulus thoughts: What you'd fix first |
Pork: Obama's "Stimulus" Package
Below is a laundry list of spending around Obama's coveted and original "stimulus" package. Keep in mind that during these difficult times, whatever Republicans and moderate Democrats can't extract from this will ALL be paid for with our money. Is this the "change" you expected to believe in? Don't answer, just ask yourself that...and be honest with yourself. Does the "hope" you were promised, amount to using scare tactics during a desperate time in our nation's history to ram this kind of wasteful spending past us and our representatives? "Pass this bill, or we're all doomed! Don't read it, don't pay attention to where the money will actually go, just trust me...or it's over for the United States!!!" Is that your hope? Because that's what we're getting. "Well it's better than what Bush did over the last 8 years!" Bush took us through 2 wars and had the misfortune of being in office when the DEMOCRAT AGENDA of putting people in homes who couldn't afford them, fell apart and crippled our economy. Regardless, we're here now...and this is Obama and the left taking advantage of it. Forget about the general principles between the 2 parties, and the realtiy that conservatism asks that we believe in ourselves - while liberalism tells us all we're victims and incapable of doing anything without government aid and direction. (It's true...but forget all that.) This is an easy snapshot of what an educated America will hopefully learn about the liberals and Democrats they are so convinced care so much about them. During these tough times, this is what they're telling us we need to ram through without debate or opposition. And all it amounts to is a long list of items the Democrats have mostly included to either return favors, or to get favors in the future. That's what "pork" is. And there's an "all you can eat" buffet of it below. Why? Because we were so easily duped leading up the election...so why not? "They won't argue with the Messiah. Hope and change!"
And the big, bad Republicans? Well all they're doing is opposing exactly what's noted below. All Republicans want are lower taxes and smaller government (ie, LESS spending). Most of the "tax cuts" that exist now, aren't even tax cuts - they're rebates (as opposed to true, long-form, marginal reductions). And a lot of those tax rebates will go to people who don't even pay income tax, which basically amounts to welfare and that socialist principle of "speading the wealth around" that you all heard about. Republicans are asking for less wasteful spending and pork (below), and more true tax CUTS for working Americans like you and I. Strip away all the speeches and media coverage you were whitewashed with during the election, and there is your underlying difference between the parties. It's black and white.
When people buy, it's usually because they're emotional. When you're resistant to buy or cautious, it's because your intellect is trumping your emotions. Many of you went to the voting booths very emotionally, and bought every word. Based on what? Ask yourselves, truly. "Bush sucked!" Really? Or is that just what you heard? Well, this is what that emotion got you. Your homey Jon Stewart, and the intellectuals you hang at coffee shops with who live off their parents credit cards...simply, were wrong. And they usually are. I'm telling you, there's a whole different brand of "cool" out there. I know that's how most of you vote and think. There's nothing wrong with that. Cool, swagger...these are good things. But you're getting down right now to some studio Michael Bolton, and missing entirely the lesser known, screaming and rocking jam band you'll someday come to appreciate. I'm trying to help that process along. It involves stepping up. Stepping up is a good thing! Quietly and on your own, give it a good look - and help yourself, your friends and your country in the process. That's who Republicans and conservatives are, and what they represent. Most Americans are really cool people. I'm telling you, you're being played.
In the meantime, welcome to American "stimulus" in the hands of a Democrat majority in all 3 Washington chambers:
"
- up to $18 billion to crush brand new cars (yes, literally crush them - SUVs and trucks)

- $200 million in funding for the lease of alternative energy vehicles for use on military installations
- unspecified millions to illegal immigrants (in the form of 'rebate' checks)"
The only "change you can believe in", is change you are responsible for. Anyone who tells you otherwise, in a capistalist society, has just slapped you in the face. If you don't wake up to that individually, reset and reform your expectations and the role "personal responsibility" plays in your life - you will fail. If constituents don't wake up to that at the enterprise level, America will.
