This iReport is part of an assignment:
The health care crisis |
Time to try something else
We have the most expensive health care system in the world, yet my father spent 48 hours in the hallway of a hospital with life threating blood clots before they could get him a bed in a room. My wife spent 24 hours in ER with chest pains that could have been a heart attack, once again, no beds in rooms. At my last job I didn't get a decent raise in 6 years, the reason? Run away health insurance costs to my employer. Now I havn't had a decent raise in 5 years, same reason. Now I ask you the following:
*
Why can't we negotiate prices with drug companies like France, England, Germany, Canada, Spain?
*
Why don't we have uniform billing forms for all hospitals and doctors?
*
Why do our insurance companies, hospitals and local state governments have to pay for the un-insured who contribute nothing to the cost of the health care system?
*
As long as we have these gapping holes in our health care system we will continue to have the highest cost health care system in the world and a third rate level of service.
