This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wedding jitters |
No impact on our Quaker wedding
We are getting married after the manner of Friends (Quakers). Simplicity is a way of life, and the depression will have no impact on the simplicity of our wedding. My "tux" will be a basic three-piece suit from my wardrobe, her dress is a simple white dress that she's had for several years. There's no minister, wedding party, wedding planner, lavish decorations, etc. We will be exchanging vows and tungsten rings in front of friends and family at a community center, and dinner will be a potluck. Total cost, including facilities rental, should be about $500 or so.
Weddings have gotten way out of hand. Perhaps the recession will cause more couples to look to the Quaker way of life and focus on the important things.
