    Mandarin Oriental Hotel Fire

    The Mandarin Oriental Hotel fire coincided with the end of Chinese New Year. The fire appeared to start around 8:30 p.m., immediately after an impressive series of fireworks exploded near the building. The fire spread quickly, and only seemed to come under firefighters control near 11 p.m.
