Tennessee Students Protest Tuition Increases at Governor's State of the State Address
Students protested proposed hikes in state tuition by staging a mock funeral procession up Capitol Hill in Nashville. The mock funeral was followed by several speakers, chanting and a candle light vigel. Students gathered from all over the state, from Memphis to Knoxville from Chatanooga to Clarksville. The protest was done minutes before Govenor Phil Bredesen's State of the State Address in the Capitol Building. Governor Bredesen is under consideration by Presdient Obama as the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
