I was going to say that it is possibly not awesome - but I changed my mind.  I totally love my car - a 2002 Chevy Prizm with over 151,000 miles.  I never made it that far before. The Chevy Prizm was made in California in a facilitiy that spit out Prizms on one side and Toyota Corollas on the other.  So it falls under the cars that are hard to classify.

It has been a great and trusted car that I love more than any other car.  The local dealer in Saline, Michigan (Bill Crispin) has been great to work with.

We are looking to replace our 1999 Toyota Sienna minivan (120K miles) and are primarily looking at the Ford Flex or Chevy Traverse.  While I think it is definitely a time to show economic patriotism, there is little doubt that old complaints about reliability with Ford and Chevy are largely legacy issues.   I think that they are not without their problems.  We had a Plymouth Voyager van from 1994 that had some recurring issues that was not fun to get through.  But it lasted seven years for us. 

I have often wondered if the business model is flawed.  We no longer have to replace a car every 3-4 years.  I guess they are just lasting longer - and contributing to their own market worries!
