China earthquake |
Earthquake felt in Xian, China, over 500 miles away
My fellow U.S. students and I, studying abroad in Xian, China from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, were taking pictures on a bridge on the campus of Jiaotong University when we felt the bridge moving! We soon realized it was an earthquake and ran off the bridge and I started filming the bridge and the water underneath that was rushing all over the place, when moments earlier it was perfectly calm. Chinese students later told us we were over 500 miles away from the epicenter of the earthquake and we still had trouble standing, along with the aftershocks. It was quite an experience! We had no idea how much destruction this earthquake had caused and we hope, along with other Jiaotong students, for some light in such terrible devasatation.
