Prayer Service for Flight 3407
Today I attended the Inter Religious Community Prayer Service at the Eastern Hills Wesleyan Church in Williamsville, NY for the 50 people who died on Flight 3407 last Thursday night. There were prayers from the church's pastor, a rabbi, a priest, an imam, a leader from the Hindu community, a cleric from a Lutheran church, and a leader from the Sikh community. There were 2 beautiful solos by a teenage girl and a man. Also, there was singing from a local senior high school chorus and a Buffalo Baptist chorus. It was a wonderful opportunity to share with so many of other faiths. The moments I will remember most are the first responders, one by one, placing a white rose in a vase while the man sang "Amazing Grace". I took a photo of the 50 white roses, one each for lives that were lost. The last inter religious prayer service I attended was in Charleston, South Carolina for the lives that were lost in 9/11. My nephew’s former teacher’s husband was one of the lives lost.
