This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obama's debt cutting plan |
SO WHY NOT...
So i got another dead end offer, unemployed 7 months, savings is gone, unemployment check barely cuts it, and i am behind on some bills, but NOT THE MORTGAGE. Recently, after the second and final enterview, and as the company was making its final decision.... an internal candidate applies to the position. Poof, i am out of an opportunity. companies will always go internal, not because they favor existing employees, because they don't want to pay unemployment AND a new salary. This has happened 4 times. The other offers I have had, actually offered me a job with offer letter, only to fall through due to funds!! 7 months unemployed March makes 8!!! So i thought... monster, careerbuilder, Washington post, and WHY THE HECK NOT .. I REPORT!!

CONTACT THROUGH I REPORT
To whom it may concern:
I am writing to inquire about a professional position with your company. I am a dedicated and independent hard worker who works well with a team or alone. My previous employers include GeoEye, Booz Allen Hamilton, EDS, FEMA/FLUOR, and the US Navy. My most recent position was temping with GeoEye, which started in July, 2008 and ended September 8, 2008. I performed many of the same functions and responsibilities I had while at Booz Allen. I was the main contact and owner for the project’s schedule, which was maintain in MS Project. I assisted in the reporting and deliverables of GeoEye’s satellite contract GeoEye-1, which launched in September of 2008. While at Booz Allen Hamilton, I have developed and maintain processes for the consistent handling of customer issues, staffing, facilities, contract requirements, and security protocols. I developed and documented multiple best practice support procedures, to include; staffing manuals, new hire practices, and general project best practices. To assist with an evolving and growing client, I developed and maintained customized processes for the consistent handling of the customer’s concerns. During my time at EDS I accomplished many things that have improved the communications between departments and national locations. With in three months of my employment, I independently learned and understood the basics of SAP, an application that was the back bone of the company's structure. I was able to learn the application and correctly take actions to identify and fix problems. Before EDS I worked with FEMA aiding Florida in the 2004 Hurricane disasters: Charlie, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne. Where I achieved in aided the rapid deployment of over 600 contractors with in a two month time span. This was the first time in FEMA/Homeland Security history that this amount of personnel was needed with in a short deadline. Shortly after many of the contractors arrived to Florida, I had to aid in their evacuation to safety. This was repeated three times, with the number of contractors doubling each time. I worked long hours, under extreme pressure, independently, and I look forward to doing the same for your organization.
I have received letters of recommendation from former supervisors, co-workers, government and non government personnel in appreciation for my dedication and getting the job done right. I am flexible and have the ability to work in different environments and with many cultures. My employment history demonstrates over ten years of administrative and customer service experience. Through the military, I have held a secrete security clearance and handled extreme situations with poise. I have advance to expert knowledge in MS Office programs such as; Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, and Front Page. I have over five years of experience with scheduling meetings (internal and externally/remotely), preparing expense reports, travel arrangements for management and team members, and maintaining management’s schedule/calendar. My education includes three years of International Relations at Florida International University, where I completed an AA degree, with a minor in Modern Languages. I can read, write and speak German at an intermediate to advance level, and write, speak, and read Arabic and Japanese at a beginner’s level.
I believe my resume shows the experience needed to provide excellent services for my employer. I am looking for a company that will allow me to use my strong analytical and critical thinking skills. I am searching for a company that has growth and new experiences, to help me mature as a key component.. I believe the goals of my company should be my goals, and look forward to us achieving them.
