Report and Comment for Taiwan Open 2009 at NUTN (Part I)

W: Debbie Wang H: Professor Hsiu-Shuang Huang (Honorary Chair of Taiwan Open 2009) W: Ladies and gentlemen, because Taiwan Open 2009(http://go.nutn.edu.tw/2009) has been ended with a success in making two world records. Today we are very glad to invite President of National University of Tainan (NUTN), Taiwan (Professor Hsiu-Shuang Huang) to report and comment the Taiwan Open 2009 event. W: Good morning, President Huang. Would you please make a short description of the Taiwan Open 2009? H: It is my great pleasure to hold the computer Go versus. Human competition (Taiwan Open 2009) at NUTN on Feb. 10-13, 2009.Last year, NUTN held an invited game for MoGo vs. human. MoGo won amateur Go players but lost the game against professional Go players. This time, MoGo made a great progress and hoped to compete with professional Go players again. In addition, professor Chang-Shing Lee (http://mail.nutn.edu.tw/~leecs/index.htm) serves as the 2009 chair of IEEE CIS ETTC(http://www.ieee-cis.org/technical/ettc/) and he hopes to promote the emergent technologies of Computational Intelligence in the world. He considers that this time MoGo may win the game and make the newest world record at NUTN. I very support this great activity. During the first two days of the Taiwan Open 2009, MoGo made two new world records by winning a 19 by 19 game with 7 handicap stones against the 9P professional Go player Jun-Xun Zhou and a 19 by 19 game with 6 handicap stones against the 1P professional Go player Li-Chen Chien. On the third day of this event, MoGo beat 2P professional Go player Shin Chin in the first 9 by 9 game. It's the second time to beat the professional Go player for the MoGo.
