On his first out of the United States visit, President Barack Obama had the pleasure of meeting with the representative of Queen Elizabeth II, Governor General Michaelle Jean. They met for approximately half an hour in the Billy Bishop Lounge at the Ottawa Airport, along with the dignitaries who have travelled with President Obama, and those dignitaries from Canada.

President Obama was treated to Friendship Guard of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as he stepped off Air Force One. In their red serge suits, they are the single most identifiable symbol of Canada, and they did us proud today.

From the Ottawa Airport, President Obama will go to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, to meet with Prime Minister Stephen Harper and others in a 7 hour long visit. There will not be time for much, other than visits and getting to know those that run Canada. The economy is on the agenda, as well as the environment and green energy. Let's hope that this visit brings about some ideas that are doable in the near future. Too bad it wasnt a longer visit so that he could visit his sister and brother in law that live in Ontario, near the Niagara region.
