Bohol Philippines
One of the tourist destinations in the Philippines is the Island of Bohol.
Located in Visayas, it hosts numerous sites unique to this place. Culture, tradition, history and nature are felt greatly when visiting this spot.
In terms of history, Bohol was the place where Datu Sikatuna (a local King) welcomed Miguel Lopez de Legazpi (a Spaniard) with peace through Sandugo, where the two leaders shared a drink with each other's blood from their wrists as a symbol of friendship and unity thus, Tagbilaran is called the city of friendship.
Having a meal in Loboc River will remind you how simple life is. Locals live along the river sides. Hospitable Boholanos can even teach you how to move to the local traditional dance beats and dance the Tinikling where bamboos are struck on the floor, so make sure your feet wont get stuck on them.
Nature is not hard to spot in Bohol. There are a lot of virgin and man made forests here since people here get from nature and makes sure that they return for preservation.
Beaches are also present in Bohol. Having white sands and clear waters definitely can give one a feeling of tranquility. Panglao island is abundant in beaches and resorts. This place is accessible via bridge or boat, whatever one fancies.
The Tarsier, one of the endangered species can be found here. These nocturnal creatures are very small and fragile but they can prey on snakes, small vertebraes and can even catch birds in motion.
The 'Chocolate Hills' is one of the best tourist attraction in the natural category. These are hills perfectly formed as cones. There are alot of urban legends on why these are formed such as giants throwing rock and boulders or romance inspired beginnings where tears formed the hills.
Baclayon Church is one of the oldest and unique church in the Philippines. Uniqueness comes from the crushed corals used in building the Church. Stained glasses inside the church gives a comfortable feel to the visitors inside where colored reflection are scattered on the floor. Evidences of the age of the church is present when you see the pulpit, where Friars conducted their sermons to the people.
Definitely when visiting the Philippines, dont miss this place for a unique experience in tradition, culture, history and nature.
