    Ask Dr. Gupta

    Inoperable area

Dr Gupta,  In 2002 I had an accident and landed on my backside,  The results from that fall are numerous and painful.

I have a series of bone spurs or osteophytes growing in the C-2  C-3 area,  these are very painfull and causing me a lot of problems.  I have been told that these Osteophytes are in a non operable area,  It seems like the nuro-surgeons will not operate on this area of the spine.   My problem is, I am allergic to pain meds,  I can take them once then my system developes an allergy to them,  So,  My pain management Dr  says I need to get use to the pain,  not to try and take anymore as Later on the osteophytes will grow larger and I will be in extreme pain,  He says if I take all of the pain meds now,  I won't have any when the pain gets to the point where I cannot stand it.  I live now at a pain level of 6 to seven every day,  Thier are times if I move my neck wrong that the pain levels will climb to a 9,  or what I guess is a nine,  I feel like the pain levels are getting worse as I don't seem to have many good days.  What would you suggest I do at this junction in time.   I read about a new laser tool called the Omni Dielectric laser,  It is believed to be able to operate where they could not operate before.  Do you think this would work for removing the osteophytes on my spine?  Please help as I am suffering greatly.
