May 12th China Earthquake
Liangping County, Chongqing Municipality, Wenhua Town
People afraid to return to their homes after the earthquake
because reports of more aftershocks all through the night. Many
people set up makeshift beds and spent the night outside in the
dark because power was out all over the town. People set up
umbrellas to protect against mosquitoes and other insects during
the humid night.
In the first photo and third photo people are helping an old man get out of his house during a 4 am aftershock.
An earthquake like this has not been felt in this area since the 1970's.
