This iReport is part of an assignment:
Sound-off |
Chimp = racism? YOU BET!
Everyone (at least in the NAACP) is in an uproar over the N.Y. Post cartoon depicting two police officers shooting a chimp and one of the officers commenting that they would have to find someone else to write the stimulus bill.
Is this really racism? Is it possible that the cartoonist, Sean Delonas was depicting Congress in general. Maybe we should ask questions before getting all fired up. Maybe the outcry over this is a desperate attempt by certain organizations to keep racism alive.
What happened to Freedom of Press? Have we sunken so low as to try to rid ourselves of this freedom because of how something is interpreted? I hope not. This cartoon is not depicting blatant racism or violence towards any particular individual (aside from the chimp).
What is the public opinion of the 'Stimulus Bill'? Last time I checked it was pretty low. How about the approval rating Congress? Again, low. Why are these ratings low? Because the average American thinks that the stimulus package is, shall we say, not quite right and that the elected officials who wrote the bill are 'off their rocker', kind of like that chimp.
