    GOP's Tactics in a Commercial

Please read this article after watching video.

The GOP are still playing the same old game,...scare the people into taking the side of the GOP. In their commercial, they say that if "you" spend $1 million per day for over 2,000 years, "you" will still have spent less than congress just did.

For one person, a million dollars is a large amount of money. But lets put this in a realistic perspective. As of July 2008, the population of the United States was 303,824,640.

If only half the population bought one soda in a vending machine per day, thats well over $150 million per day, or $54.75 billion per year. And that's the point!!! We are not talking about "one" person, we are talking about the entire United States!!!

How long would it to pay off this $787 billion bill? Lets assume there are 200 million people paying taxes on a sliding scale per income. But for the sake of understanding the concept lets get rid of the sliding scale and divide it equally between 200 million people over three(3) years.

Answer: It would cost $3.60 per person, per day, for three (3) years. That's less than an an espresso coffee drink!!! Now lets consider the sliding scale. The lower your income, the less you pay; the higher the income, the more you pay. And $3.60 would be based on the average taxable family income.

Now this is more realistic. The GOP commercial is unethically manipulating these numbers for the purpose of scaring people. And I must admit, I was scared when I first saw this commercial. Then I did the math myself, and that fear turned to anger and resentment towards the GOP for trying to trick the people of this country.
