Social Security Holding Account ?
Several years ago I worked for a company that employed many illegal aliens who were using false social security numbers. The company was sent a letter from the Social Security Administration regarding these employees, what needed to be done by the employer and what the employee need to do address the problem. The employer I worked for was told in the letter that they would be fined if these employee's did not provide proper documentation to work in the USA. I was instructed to contact the Social Security Administration and ask some questions. One of the questions I asked (just out of curiosity) was what happens to the money that is taken out of the employee's paycheck for SS? If that employee never becomes a legal resident alien or citizen, will they ever see that money? I was told the money that is taken out of each and every person's paycheck that is working in the USA under a false social security number goes into a holding account. I wonder how much money is in there? I wonder how much interest is being earned on this "holding account" money? Someone should investigate the Social Security Administration on this matter.
