Airplane In Romania cannot land
UPDATE 9:54 AM (Local Time): Airplane landed, all passengers and crew are safe.
An airplane of Carpatair has been circling in the air for almost 2 hours waiting for emergency services to be ready. The plane, a SAAB 2000, should have landed at 8 AM local time but had problems with the landing gear and was not be able to have a normal landing. There were a reported 47 people on board and 4 crew.
20 ambulances and 3 firefighting trucks were waiting for the plane to land and helped to evacualte the passengers and crew. Nobody was hurt.
While approaching Timisoara airport. the Pilot, Adrian Iovan reported that his only option was to land on the belly as he was not able to release the landing gear.
The plane is from Carpat Air and came from Chisinau and was flying to Timisoara, Romania
It is not the first airplane incident this year on Romanian territory. On the 16th of January 2009, a Gulfstream Galaxy G200 of Ion Tiriac Air exceeded the runway at Oradea Airport due to bad weather conditions. All passengers are safe. The nose of the plane had substantial damages and the landing train was broken. The airplane stopped near the fence between the airport and a private propriety.
