This iReport is part of an assignment:
Paul Harvey dies: Your memories |
Paul Harvey; Country Memories
I first heard Paul Harvey when I was in my early teens. I would spend my summers on my uncle's ranch. It was out in the middle of no where. In fact it was so far out, I was only able to recieve AM radio stations. It was here that I first learned to drive. My uncle would let me take his work truck out and go driving down the country roads. Every day I would listen to Paul Harvey. At first I was disappointed, I was young and the news was boring. Then it kind of grew on me like a stray dog.
I started to love hearing the tales he would tell, and I would stand at attention waiting "For the rest of the story". He would captivate me with the interesting tid bits he would throw in. He even managed to make promos sound interesting, I have purchased a few Bose radios and ear phones because of this tantalizing talker.
I will miss his broadcasts, they have always reminded me of spending my youth out on a ranch learning to work and play both at the same time. Paul Harvey truly was a radio ICON.
