Still Selling My Everything But Surviving

There has been some great response to my iReport posted yesterday concerning the sale of all my prized family possessions (musical instruments) in order to make ends meet in this economy. Here is a recent sales video showing how I am presently continuing to sell. It is also a tribute to my violin teacher who passed away this past october.

Now as a matter of survival in this economy, I am blessed that this rather enjoyable sidline has generated much needed extra funds, provided me with a way to share very good instruments with others for very little cost, and even though it is quite a bit of extra work, it allows me to use my expertise with string instruments in ways I had never imagined before the economy tanked.

Pictures posted include an early photo of my freshman college days as a violin performance student, (holding one of the violins I had to part with). In addition there are photos of several recent violins I have fallen in love with, but parted quickly with as I have continued to sell. I spend a good deal of time hunting down good instruments that I can obtain very reasonably, and then perform needed set up on them and resale them. There are also pictures of my immigrant family in Katymar Hungary (mother fourth from left, father standing fifth from left),  our three boys, and a most notable inspiration, a photo of my grandmother on the day she became an American citizen around 1954. There is also a photo of an appraisal of one bow which sold for only about 30% of its value. Sometimes a quick nickel is better than a slow dime! To see my original post see "Selling My Everything"
