This iReport is part of an assignment:
Pawning off your prized possessions |
pulling your hair out?
I am a mom of two beautiful little boys, and have a great husband who is self employed (Financial Advisor) and works tires sly everyday to provide for our family. I must say that over the course of my life I have been fortunate with health, a loving family and friends and the ability to do some of the "extras". I have a college education, am a driven person and am unemployed, by no choice of my own...I have been searching for jobs and going on countless interviews. No luck quite yet! Last weekend I was at a party for a friend's birthday. My husband and I were leaving the party and a homeless man approached us and very nicely asked us for an "economic stimulus package". HA! I looked him in the eye, took his hand and said, "Do you have one for us?" He smiled and said kindly, "I understand", and went on his way. I read all of these sad stories about people losing their homes; their jobs.....pretty much their EVERYTHINGS. I feel that it is time for people to come together and help one another. I was worried last week about how I was going to pay the car payment and energy bill. I was worried yesterday about how I was going to scrounge up enough money for our mortgage (which we are current on). I am worried today about how I am going to go get groceries at the store. You see, everyone is worried. I have vowed to do at least one good deed a day for someone else. It makes me feel better and I know, no matter how big or small the deed, it can make someone else's day brighter. So as we all want to pull our hair out with the economy and the barrage of bad news that gets spewed out on the nightly news, I think we all need to relax, take a deep breath and look around and listen to the people around us. I know it does not pay the bills to have this attitude but it certainly gives me something to look forward to waking up to.
