Barbie's turning 50 |
Barbie Turns 50, but will Paris make it?
Mattel is celebrating Barbie's 50th Anniversary/Birthday tonight at Zuma Beach, Malibu.
Ruth Handler, co-founder of Mattel, created the pop icon in 1959, and named her after her daughter. Shortly thereafter massive princess production began.
Barbie has proven the test of time and Mattel is releasing the Bathing Suit Barbie Doll for $3, paying tribute to the original price tag, as well as paying tribute to our economic woes.
Speaking of economic woes, time for a party! The Barbie Bash will undoubtedly be full of glitz and glamour, princess perfect partying.
Several celebs will be in attendance, but will the modern day Barbie, Paris Hilton, ever tip her hat to her predecessor? We better remind her, it’s "Age before Beauty".
The real question is whether Paris will stand the test, and make it to 50 years of fabulous in her own right?
Only time will tell...
