Spare Me the Sob Stories
These past several months have become unbelievable to me. Every time I turn the news on, it makes me sick to see what this country has become.
I'm 25 years old & categorized in the "Me, Me, Me, generation". I can tell you this, I'm not anything like the thousands of others my age full of themselves, but sadly the categorization of my generation is correct. Then we have the newest generation and I have yet to come up with a term for it. I can say this though, the differences seen in someone just 10-15 years younger is mind blowing. The crap they know, the stunts pulled, the lack of morals, consequences, etc is unbelievable to me. Anyone who walks into a school understands what I mean. At least I can say, looking back, there were consequences for my actions and I'm grateful now (not back then of course) for those who took it upon themselves to teach me right from wrong; starting with my parents!
We now have an administration voted in by the American people, the majority being my generation in fact, that is teaching Americans everywhere & the world for that matter, there's no such thing as responsibility. Your problems in life that were inflicted not by accident, but by your own doing, is not your fault at the end of the day, but someone else's.
You spent more than you made last year? No worries, that's not your fault, Washington will take care of it. Bought a home you were never qualified to buy, that's alright, walk away from it, Washington will pay your bills or your bank will be forced to become landlords.
Quit a job you hated or got fired for being stupid and irresponsible? That's ok, we'll pay you to stay home & won't even bother to check in to make sure you're seeking work. Better yet, what about all those food stamps being handed out here lately. I can't tell you how many folks I've seen driving brand new Escalade's and Cadillacs in the parking lot of local grocery stores, only to hand the cashier a stack of food stamps. What a load of crap!
Now, I know what's about to be said, what about those laid off? How is it their fault? Well, it might not be directly their fault, but the cut backs are being made because of irresponsible spending on Wall Street, Washington, and by the American people. So, someone laid off may not be irresponsible, but one or more of their co-workers easily could have been. It's a domino effect people; it really ain't that hard to see! Back to my point... Is it really Washington's job to cover loss wages? That's debatable and not entirely knocking it, but again, what accountability is there for those on it? It's not possible for Washington to account for and every American on unemployment and that's my issue.
I have a friend right now fired from work for never coming in, being late, and not producing enough, yet continues to wonder why she was fired. She hasn't even begun looking for work, rather she whines about a car accident that "supposedly hurt her back" and plays on Facebook all day, all the while living off unemployment and food stamps. While my husband and I continue working our butts off each and every day to make ends meet. Better yet, listen to her proclaim she got a tax refund while we owed. Ain't life just grand?
Anyway...
My point is, half of the Americans whinnying have a reason to whine. My parents have worked their entire lives to be able to retire. Now, that'll never happen. They've lost big thanks to the mortgage crisis. My father is a general contractor and owners his own construction business. My mother worked for years at a private mortgage attorney's office only to be laid off in Jan of "08, laid off again mid 2008 after finding work, and faces another lay off possibly. No one is credit worthy to purchase what homes my father does have available so they sit empty and face the same fate many other builders have already faced, loosing their work to the bank.
Yet, there's the other half of Americans who are the reason for this mess. Yes, Washington is to blame, yes Wall Street is to blame, but so are thousands of Americans who over spent on homes, credit cards, cars, etc. Now they're crying foul. The only foul I see is the Americans like my husband & I who pay our bills on time, pay our mortgage on time, have no car payments, work 40 hours a week, yet, we're given no help whatsoever. In fact, just to make matters worse, Uncle Sam demands money from us. That's the foul I see and I for one am sickened and tired of working my butt off for lazy ass people who deserve no help whatsoever and ought to be forced to fend for themselves.
So quite your whinnying America. There's no cheese left for that whine of yours and wood costs too much now a day's to build that bridge over the river of tears you've created. Move on, get off your sorry butts, and fix this problem yourself. Waiting on Washington is like waiting for Jesus. Jesus never said when he'd return, he just said he would. Washington doesn't have a date or time when it comes to fixing this mess, they just say they're going to fix it. Unlike Jesus though, Washington will never be able to fulfill it's promise; in fact, they wouldn't know the truth if it hit them in the face.
