This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wintry weather |
I can blaze a trail
my neighbor's LP tank for a space heater ran out, he had a little car, I had an suv. So, being from the West Coast, I think my suv is invincible. We have only 3.5 blocks to make it to the only store for 30 miles, even in a blizzard should be a piece of cake.
In a rural Minnesota town with a few hundred people and only one 4-way stop, and only a few blocks to go, how bad could it be?
I immediately fail to detect the 2 ft drift 1.5 blocks into this mission, get stuck. My Minnesota neighbor gets behind the wheel, gets us unstuck, and we realize we can't turn around. We have to go through the worst drift. Turned the camcorder off at that point.
We make it to the store, 1.5 blocks away and manage to get back without getting stuck in -30 below, 38 mph winds howling global warming in action. I just aimed the cam and closed my eyes.
The location is West Central Minnesota and the driver is Mopar Mike.
