    Waters Rise Again

Just over a year ago, this scene played for the first time in many years in Plymouth, Indiana.  Rising flood waters from melting snow, homeowners vacated from their residences, school delayed or cancelled.

One year and a month later, the stage is set again.  There have been many days of torrential downpours, leaving the Yellow River and the surrounding land completely saturated.  Plymouth City Schools were on a 2 hour delay Wednesday morning and will be again Thursday.

Recently, federal aid requested last year was finally granted and Plymouth mayor Mark Senter announced the city will be buying at least 4 of the homes damaged or vacated due to last years flooding.

    Not a moment too soon.

As of 9am March 11, the flood waters were at 14.3 feet and rising.  The normal flood stage is around 13 feet.  The waters are expected to crest around 15 feet by the evening of the 12th, then begin to receed.  For most residents and business owners, it's not soon enough.
