News To Me |
Small Town, Big Racial Issues
Escondido is a small town in the larger San Diego area.
Over the weekend, 17,000 residents received the Police commissioned flyer that declared:
“On the streets, gang members now outnumber Escondido police officers by almost 6 to 1 ... Why isn't the City Council putting your safety first?”
Embroiled in a city dispute over a contract renewal, the Escondido Police Department stands behind the flyer while community members accuse them of race baiting and stereotyping.
The gangmembers featured on the flyer are not from Escondido.
Attached is entire flyer, featuring White Escondido Police Officers on the inside.
