Police Escort for the Sandbag trucks!

In order to get the sandbag trucks to the locations as fast as possible the police have been escorting the high priority trucks with lights and sirens throughout town.  This is crucial as running out of sandbags can be problematic because the volunteers go where the sandbags are.

The remaining pictures and video are from the sandbagging we were doing along Drain 27 by 42nd St South and 40th Ave South.  The current dikes there are only good to 41 feet and we need to raise them to 43 to keep up with the new projected river crest of 41 feet.

There were anywhere from 300 to 500 people there ready to sandbag.  We had to wait about 30 minutes for the sandbags to show up, but once they did, they didn't stop coming.  I was there from around 9pm to 2:30am and we put down A LOT of sandbags. I would guess around 8 of the dump trucks and 6 or 7 flatbed semi loads.
