This iReport is part of an assignment:
Flooding in the Great Plains |
Breaking up frozen sandbags
Its been tough getting around the city today as they have several roads blocked off either for work trucks only or by temporary dikes. In addition, the Fargodome was overflowing with volunteers this morning so if you didn't get there early you were unable to help.
However we were able to go over to a co-workers place that is nearby in the Prairie Rose 2nd Addition and assist them in putting on the final touches to get the dike on the drainage ditch behind their house up to the 43' protection level.
The city came by over night and dropped off sandbags. Unfortunately they all froze over night while sitting out. Some clever residents found a way to break up the frozen bags by using a vibrating compactor.
