This iReport is part of an assignment:
An hour without power |
video....Eiffel Tower...Let's Get Real..or...Lights Out Forever!!!!
Earth Hour ...???...Lights out one hour every hundred years or so is .playing cutesy with impending environmental disaster.
...It's......meaningless!...it's a media stunt...!!!
Some might say "Better than nothing"...I'd say just No!!!...just a distraction and silliness..
Just a nice bit of hype and sloganeering to a problem that makes "the financial crisis" look like a blip on the Earth's survival screen.
Perahps raising public awareness even slightly is helpful in turning the situation around, but it is a meager effort and disingenuous to promote this hour as offering any hope, either practically or as an educational tool, for the preservation of the environment..it's species (including humans)...and all life...
Today, Monday,.. it'll be world-wide mindless and environmentally degrading production and consuming...business and profits as usual in the quickening march to a total global environmental meltdown....
That's the opinion of the hundreds of international scientists who recently met during a conference on the environment.....latest VOA news reported March 18, 2009.
Lights out for an Hour???...If we continue with our same disregard for the environment...It looks like Lights out Forever!!!!
Paris,...#1 tourist city in the world....Eiffel Tower #1 tourist destination in Paris...
the Eiffel Tower without lights??.....bye, bye...$'s and €s and £'s and ¤....gotta' keep those lights flashing....and power from French nuclear plants isn't exactly environmentally friendly.
But "la Tour".....wherever I am in the city...and no matter how often I see it....it's always a shocker...as if from another age, which it is, but maybe even from another solar system....perhaps, let's keep her night lights flashing and find some other way, aside from shutting them down, to save the planet.
Maybe I should have filtered out the wind....yeh!!...just some more of that annoying environment.
