Tobacco tax increase |
Smoke For The Children
AP: Obama said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. "I can make a firm pledge," "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes." He repeatedly vowed "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime." Listen now," he said in his widely watched nomination acceptance speech, "I will cut taxes—cut taxes—for 95 percent of all working families, because, in an economy like this, the last thing we should do is raise taxes on the middle class."
The White House contends Obama's campaign pledge left room for measures such as the one financing children's health insurance.
Typical of a left wing spin. Leave enough room. But don’t tell the voters that while you are campaigning. This is simply a way of hiding another broken campaign promise.

Some of you who think the tax is a good thing, are missing the point. He said he could fund his programs by taxing the rich. Obviously not. If a tax on cigarettes is ok to help fund programs, what else will he tax? If you don't smoke or hate smoking, this might make you happy. That's pretty short sighted, because taxes generated from tobacco are a declining revenue. You will be next. What you drink, or eat, will end up taxed. Obesity cost health care as much as smoking. How about a per pound tax for every pound over your recommended BMI? People like you are the reason we get inexperienced people like Obama and this congress. It's ok if others are taxed, and what they have is taken, as long as I am not touched and something is given to me. Don't worry, this is trickle down punishment. What starts with the rich eventually hurts the poor and those with their hand out much more.
He don’t want people to quit. He just wants their money to fund all this spending he is doing and calling it funding for children’s health care. Yeah Right. Anyone will buy this if the children are in the picture. So if you want to help the children just light up.
It's my guess that many, many Congressmen have their hands out for their part of the "take". These people are now simply looting the Treasury and conducting a mass gang rape of the taxpayers while our liberal mass media cheers for their main man.
Remember the lower income smoke and there will be more robberies and crime because they can't afford their cigerettes.
I personally will take good advantage of this tax to better myself. If smokers quit, who will fund the health care for children?
