I am writing this report in response to a report by jimjjj  How do we stop the killings//

In that report the reporter explored the idea of allowing for "certain" Americans to be allowed to carry concealed weapons.  The writer makes the assumption that if "law abiding" Americans were allowed to carry, then there would be someone there the next time a distraught person goes on a rampage ( the fact that the distraught person usually has a permit for these guns did not deter the author one bit).

The simple fact of the matter is that the Binghamton NY shooter was the person with the legal permit for his two guns which he used to kill the thirteen others.  I do understand that there are many staunch "gun rights guys", but think about it.  A license to carry a concealed weapon does not mean that the person carrying the weapon won't "flip the script" either.  No one can just assume that if people were allowed to carry handguns that society would be safer.  What was not said, is exactly who is qualified to carry.  Something makes me think that the playing field for that game won't be even close to level.

Please don't get me wrong but I am suspicious of anyone who thinks that people should be allowed to carry concealed weapons.  I live in the very crowded suburbs of New York City. There are probably people all around carrying concealed weapons illegally.  But for the most part people here do not think it's a good idea.  The reason is that who knows how someone with a license to carry will react to a situation, or whether two "good guys" kill each other for misperceiving a situation.  It also must be understood that some people let things go to their head and license to carry might make some believe they have a license to kill or to thwart "criminals".  What this country doesn't need is a bunch of vigilantes running around thinking they can outdo the Police.

The last thing the Police want is to run into a situation where they don't know who the bad guy is and who the good guy is.  Imagine the headlines when the father of four gets gunned down by Police because he in the middle of shooting a supposed bad guy and the cops didn't know who was who. Imagine the headlines when the father of four kills an undercover cop because he reacted too quickly.  What is being called for is anarchy.  Make no mistake!

I'm not blaming guns at all, I'm blaming the man who thinks he can control all of society's ills if he only had a gun.  To all of you who believe the gun is the answer, I suggest you seriously think about the "Super Hero" movie you're trying to write.  And then redo the Math because it doesn't add up!
