    HOMELESS, HUNGRY: WILL WORK FOR WEBCAM

    In the old days, we just asked to spare a dime. I guess this is a New Age.

    Friends, romantics, opinionmakers, lend me a webcam.
    I come not to hassle CNN, but to praise it.
    The evil that men do, we follow after,
    That good may not be daunted or deterred.
    So let it be with CNN…the noble Turner
    Hath told you CNN’s ambitions;
    If it were so, it were no grievous fault,
    But grievously muckrakers answer it.
    Here, after leave of idistort and the rest
    (As journalism is an honorable profession,
    So are they are all, all honorable journalists)
    Come I to speak in CNN’s defense.
    I vent to be friends, faithful and just,
    Though polemicists fault me for ambition;
    and journalism is an honorable profession…
    CNN hath liberated more than it hath shackled,
    though Turner’s were the coffers that it filled:
    Does CNN for this deserve perdition?
    When that the poor were flooded, CNN hath wept:
    Ambition should be made of sterner stuff:
    Yet bloggers decry the vain ambition;
    And journalism is an honorable profession.
    Nor have you seen, against our founders' feast,
    Any hint of wolfish aspiration,
    But the watchdog whom the lapdog puts to sleep.
    Yet correspondents call the taint ambition;
    And sure, it is an honorable profession.
    I speak not to disprove the proven flaw,
    But I am here to tell what I do know.
    You all enthused here once, not without cause:
    What cause withholds you then to now approve?
    O judgment! The beast within me howls, the hollow core
    Roars out the oval-cast emoticon…Bear with me,
    My reason is the reason of my reason,
    To indulge the wry idea of this march. ;-)
