School Closings
The number of schools closings in the Flint School District’s facilities report reads like a "school closed" list on a bad snow day. The report recommended that the District close 17 of its 35 schools. How many schools will actually close is yet to be determined, but the outlook does not look good.
Where will the students go? Some of these schools are in very, very large buildings. What does that mean for the neighborhoods. Should these Districts donate the soon to be vacant school buildings to non-profit organizations, at a next to nothing cost? If not, what should they do with them? So many questions, and yet very few if any answers.
This is a picture of Flint Central High School, which is on the recommended closings list.
