Test of Faith |
The Divine Cathedral
The Cathedral of St John the Divine, one of the largest in the World, is located in Morningside Heights in Upper Manhattan, New York City. Started in 1892 and still unfinished, it serves not only as a religious institution, offering more than 30 services a week, but also a community center, with performing and visual art programs, outreach services, an episcopal school and daycare center and a textile restoration laboratory known around the world. In December 2001 a fire destroyed the North Transept and caused wide damage to the interior. The restoration, a test of faith for the community, was completed in 2008.
