Journey to change |
Your Clock is Ticking
To begin this article, I will tell you up front that I am not rich. I do not drive a fancy car nor do I own a huge house. I do not golf every weekend in Arizona or fly to Italy just for the hell of it. I am just a true, hard-working American Entrepreneur that just wants to do things a little differently. I have the mindset to be different than everyone else and I know there are thousands out there that feel the exact same way. I want to be able to do what I want, when I want, and not think twice about it. I truly believe that anyone can accomplish this if they really want to, but it takes hard work; nonstop, white-knuckled, early morning, late night, get less sleep than your grandmother hard work. On your journey towards reaching your goal, whatever that may be, there will be obstacles waiting to rabbit punch you the whole way. Yet, I like to think that obstacles are your best friend; they are the things that want you to lose, but make you win. There are always people waiting around every corner that won't hesitate to explain to you how you are going to fail. These people love to spend their time telling others they will fail because with their mindset they aren't capable of creating what you can or don't have the courage to risk a little time and effort. Roll that junk up, throw it in your gas tank, and you now have fuel to burn. It's time to work.
If you are going to make a difference in this world, it won't happen with wishful thinking. Trust me, I have tried. Wishful thinking is about as useful as trying to solve global warming by telling people to stop farting. Wishful thinking is not dreaming. Wishful thinking is sitting around trying to will the television to call out your lottery numbers. Dreaming is your brain processing your thoughts that are floating deep inside that you want to come true. You can develop useful ideas from your dreams and apply them. Never rule out an dream that is in your head. Even if you think it is worthless, it could flourish into something greater. In the end, however, to make a difference with your dream, you must act on it and create something that people will use in some way or another. It doesn't have to be a whole forest of people that accept your idea, just a little spark to ignite the wildfire.
The wishful thinkers will be the ones who will push you down and attempt to extinguish your spark or your dream. They sit around and wish they were rich, but don't want to work for it. So instead of spending their time working towards a goal, they will end up grabbing your belt buckle and try to pull you down. You may develop what you believe to be a brilliant idea, but they will be there to say you are amazingly awesome at wasting your time. If this doesn't start a fire under your rear, then you are in trouble because the criticism will only get worse.
You must fight. Fight for your idea, fight for your dream. We don't have enough time on this planet to sit around feeling sorry for ourselves because someone told us we can't accomplish something. One morning you will wake up and realize you have worked your life away and have forgotten to enjoy your life. The average life span is 67 years in America; that is 2,114,314,042 seconds. The clock is ticking. Your dream isn't going to fabricate itself. Get off the couch, turn off the iPod, shut down the television, stop playing video games, and get your ass in gear. Every human being is capable of truly miraculous creations; only a rare few take the time to figure out what it is they can create.
Don't waste your time thinking about what you could have done. The past is gone, focus on the present, no matter how old you are. You can learn from the past, but don't dwell on it; you will lose sight of your objective if you do. Be risky, be courageous, and most importantly, have fun doing it. Find your ultimate goal in life and figure out what you must do to get there. Use the criticism you receive along the way to fuel your fire. Life may be short, but a person's creation can live forever.
I am not be rich now, but I have a great grasp on my dream and I am well on my way. Are you?
