This iReport is part of an assignment:
Growing pains for Twitter, Facebook? |
Facebook and Madelyn Gosselin
I think the freedoms of Facebook have gone too far. I'm all for the freedom of speech and for allowing people to express their opinions but in this case, it's beyond uncalled for. There is a Facebook group called "On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do YOU HATE Maddy Gosselin????" Seriously, a hate group for an 8 year old? What is this world coming to?
In the description on this page, it says: "Ok, I hate her prolly about a 9.9999. Honestly how much better would Jon and Kate Plus 8 be if Maddy Bitch was not on there....they would be a better family with only 7...Maddy is so annoying and bossy that no one even likes her, all her family is pretending. She is truly a Dumb Dumb BITCH...." Please excuse the typos and the fact that they didn't even spell her name correctly. It's unreasonable to expect too much out of an individual who would start a Facebook page like this.
I have reported this page to Facebook and I know other people have also. Why won't they remove it? They should not, under any circumstances, allow a hate group to exist for a minor. It would be one thing if it were for an adult or even someone who chooses to be in the spotlight. That doesn't make it ok but at least it would then be arguable. To allow such hateful things to be said about a little girl whose parents chose this life for her is unacceptable. Someone even posted on the wall saying they would like to "punch her in the face". Unbelievable!
This needs to be brought to Facebook's attention on a very large scale.
