This iReport is part of an assignment:
Celebrating the earth |
Blue Planet - Wyland
Wyland has the world at his fingertips and he’s giving it to Long Beach in celebration of Earth Day. World famous artist, Wyland, returns to the Long Beach Arena 17 years after painting his famed mural on the building’s exterior (the world’s largest) to up the ante again with the world’s largest mural of planet earth— over 2 acres— on the arena’s rooftop. The artist donates his time as a gift on Earth Day and aims to complete the project, that he calls the Earth: The Blue Planet, within 24 hours! You’d think after all that work he’d wrap up Earth Day with a nap, but he tells me he plans to celebrate the accomplishment with a book signing to raise awareness for the non profit Wyland Foundation (at Tracht’s across the street from the arena) with proceeds to benefit programs in schools.
