This iReport is part of an assignment:
Celebrating the earth |
Wyland finished Earth
Wyland completed Earth: The Blue Planet as the sun faded on Earth Day. With
the help of his volunteers coordinating the effort, Wyland poured heart,
soul and non toxic water-based paint into completing the world¹s largest
mural of planet earth atop the Long Beach Arena within 24 hours. Here, Mayor
Bob Foster helps Wyland with some finishing touches then we¹re off in a
helicopter to get the first birds-eye views of the completed project.
Wyland donates all of his time and resources for his famous public murals
(over 100 Whaling Walls have been done) at no cost, and this one was his
gift to everyone for Earth Day. It was a long 24 hours but an incredible
experience to watch it unfold before my eyes (and lenses). Hope you enjoy
it!
